The NDMA has directed the NHA FWO and other agencies to remain alert from May 3 to 6 in case of heavy rains in the next few days According to details the National Disaster Management Authority NDMA has directed the concerned agencies and departments to remain alert in view of the possibility of storms strong winds and thunderstorms in the central and upper parts of the country during the next four days
According to the advisory issued on Saturday the Meteorological Department has forecast rains with winds strong winds and thunderstorms in the central and upper parts of the country from Sunday to Wednesday. The NDMA has urged all concerned agencies to be ready to avoid loss of life and property in any emergency situation in view of the weather conditions
According to the weather forecast, heavy rains are expected in Islamabad, Upper and Central Punjab Azad Jammu and Kashmir Gilgit-Baltistan as well as some parts of Balochistan. In this situation, the concerned agencies have been directed to make all possible arrangements to keep the highways and link roads open for traffic deal with emergencies and ensure timely provision of information
It was further reported that a series of rains has started in the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Heavy rains lashed Swat for several hours on Saturday night flooding homes. There were reports of falling roofs in several areas due to torrential rains. It should be noted that due to unpredictable rains in the month of April in the country the intensity of heat has not increased much so far. However with the onset of unpredictable rains in May the weather is likely to improve
