Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview today that the Taliban had not captured Kabul but had been invited to enter Kabul.

I invited the Taliban to come to Kabul so that the citizens of the country could be protected and the city of Kabul would not be plunged into chaos,” he told the Associated Press. According to him, “another purpose of this invitation was to save the country and Kabul from those who could heat up the looting market if the situation worsens.

According to the interview When Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan, his security personnel also left the city. Defense Minister Bismillah Khan even asked Hamid Karzai if he wanted to leave Kabul.

Karzai had approached him to find out the future of the government. Hamid Karzai learned that the government had completely collapsed and that even the Kabul police chief did not remain in the city.

Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan for 13 years. He became president of Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks when the United States invaded and overthrew the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai refused to leave Kabul after the fall of Ashraf Ghani’s government.

Hamid Karzai, who lives in a spacious house in Kabul with his wife and children, discusses a number of issues in this interview. Karzai was adamant that Ashraf Ghani’s flight from Kabul was at the behest of him, chief negotiator Abdullah Abdullah and the Taliban leadership in Doha who wanted to see the Taliban enter the city as part of the deal.

These conditions were inevitable on August 14, the day before the Taliban entered Kabul.

According to him, Karzai, Abdullah Abdullah, and Ashraf Ghani had agreed in the meeting that they would go to Doha the next day to discuss a power-sharing agreement with the Taliban. His delegation included 15 others. By then, the Taliban had reached the outskirts of Kabul, but Karzai said the Taliban leadership in Doha had promised that Taliban militants would remain out of the city until an agreement was reached.

On August 15, I was waiting for the people on the list, but there was uncertainty in Kabul Karzai said. Rumors of a Taliban takeover were circulating in the city. When Karzai contacted Doha, he was told that the Taliban would not enter the city.

According to Karzai, the Taliban announced in the afternoon that the government will remain in place. Don’t leave because the Taliban do not intend to enter the city. I and others spoke to various officials and were assured that US and government forces were in place and that Kabul would not fall.

Karzai said that at 2.45 pm, it was revealed that Ghani had left Kabul. I contacted the defense minister, talked to the interior minister, and tried to contact the Kabul police chief but everyone was gone.

It may be recalled that Ashraf Ghani had written in his Facebook message after leaving Kabul that the Taliban should win hearts and gain legal status.

There were no officials in Kabul, Karzai said. Neither the police chief, nor the corps commander, nor any other unit. They were all gone.

According to Hamid Karzai, the deputy chief of Ashraf Ghani’s security forces called Hamid Karzai and invited him to the presidential palace to assume the presidency, but he refused to do so. He said he was not legally authorized to do so. Instead, she decided to broadcast a televised message in which her children were with her so that “Afghan citizens know they are all here.”

Karzai insists that if Ashraf Ghani had stayed in Kabul, the transition agreement would have been possible peacefully. It was possible, we were preparing for it,” Karzai said. I believe that the Taliban leadership in Doha was waiting for the same thing.

Karzai is still in Afghanistan today and is constantly meeting with the Taliban leadership. Afghans need to be united he said. Afghanistan has been at war for 40 years and in the last 20 years, “everyone has suffered a great loss.

The Afghan army has suffered, the Afghan police have suffered and the Taliban fighters have suffered, he said. We have to find a solution and this can only happen when all Afghans are united he added.

According to the Afghan president, he also has plans in this regard. In his talks with the Taliban, he has been supporting the restoration of Afghanistan’s former monarchy. The idea was mooted during the Doha talks.

Meanwhile, the traditional Loya Jirga, in which Afghanistan’s leaders, including women, will be invited. It will decide the future of the country. In which the representative government, the constitution, and the national flag will be decided.

So far there are no indications that the Taliban will accept this formula, but according to Hamid Karzai, they have not yet rejected it.

The world needs to keep in touch with the Taliban Karzai said. Afghanistan must remain active. Government officials will have to pay salaries and the health department will have to work full time.

When asked how he views the Taliban, he said The Taliban are Afghans but they have gone through very difficult times in their lives.” Over the past 40 years, other Afghans have faced similar challenges.

It may be recalled that before entering Kabul on August 15, the Taliban had announced that they would not enter Kabul by force

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Taliban fighters would not enter the capital, Kabul, and had been told to wait at the city’s entrances. A Taliban spokesman said in a statement that the Islamic Emirate had instructed all its fighters to stop at the entrances to Kabul and not to enter the city.

A Taliban spokesman said in a statement that our fighters are not entering the city and we want a peaceful transfer of power.

A few hours later, however, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban’s political office, Dr. Muhammad Naeem, issued a Twitter message ordering the Taliban to enter Kabul and take control of the city.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also shared the statement of the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on his Twitter handle. In which the militants were warned not to damage anyone’s property in the city and not to harass the citizens in the houses.
